March 02, 2021: The Army Recruitment Exam of 2021 conducted across India for the General Duty has been cancelled after the paper was found to be leaked. Even though the investigation is still going on, 3 people have already been arrested in Pune for having been involved in the case. The announcement was made on Sunday, February 28 after the officials of the examination identified the paper of the said pan-India examination.
The exam has been cancelled all over the country to maintain the transparency of the recruitment process and the new dates will soon be announced by the authorities. Meanwhile, the Army and the local police of Pune are investigating the matter.
“The Indian Army has zero tolerance towards corrupt practices in the recruitment process for selection of suitable candidates”, one of the officials commented. He also added, “Joint operation of the army with the local police in Pune reported question paper leak for the Common Entrance Examination for Recruitment of Soldiers (General Duty).”
The exam is conducted to recruit the spine of the fighting troops of the country i.e. the General Duty soldiers of the Indian Army. The candidates are recruited for the Infantry, Artillery, Armoured Cops, Engineers, or the Army Air Defence (AAD) in the posts of gunners, drivers, fighting troops, operators, and other general duties. Along with these, they can also be recruited for the posts of drivers, operators or other general duties in the service divisions included in the army such as Army Service Corps (ASC), Army Ordnance Corps (AOC), Army Medical Corps (AMC).
The jawans in the army are recruited by the Indian army while the recruitment of officers is done by the common entrance exams conducted jointly by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) and Staff Service Commission (SSC) such as National Defense Academy (NDA) and Combined Defense Services (CDS).
