IBPS has conducted the first phase of its IBPS PO Prelims 2017 on October 7, 8, 14 & 15, 2017. The exam seeks to fill in around 3562 vacancies in the post of Probationary Officer at 20 participating banks. No candidate reported IBPS PO 2017 was easy. Go through this analysis to know the level of difficulty:

  • Reasoning Comprehension asked on October 14th were based on following topics like Doctors Medicine, World Health Organization, Economic growth of Myanmar.
  • Cloze test was not included this this year in English section.
  • Data Interpretation questions were calculative and time consuming.
  • Overall difficulty level of IBPS PO Prelims was slightly difficult as compared to last year.
  • This year, IBPS PO cut off will be on par with previous years and lie in between 70-80.
  • Questions were direct and formula based.
  • There were no questions from Quadratic Equations and Cloze Test.
  • There were no questions from Syllogism in this shift (October 7 – Slot 2).
  • The pattern of the questions in English Language section was changed especially error detection based questions.
  • All candidates clearing Mains exam will be shortlisted for IBPS PO Selection Process comprising interview in January 2018.
  • Minimum qualifying marks for IBPS PO Interview will not be less than 40 % (35 % for SC/ ST/ OBC/ PWD).

IBPS PO Prelims 2017 Expected Cut off

  • IBPS will release sectional and overall cut off score. 
  • Candidate should secure subject-wise as well as category-wise cut off score for participating in next stage. 
  • IBPS PO Cut off 2017 for allotment will be released in April 2018.

Total score in IBPS PO 2017 Prelims = Scores obtained in English Language + Reasoning Ability + Quantitative Aptitude

After final marks in each section and total marks are calculated. Cut offs are applied at 2 stages.

  1. On scores in individual test (section).
  2. On total score.

English Language (Moderate – Difficult)

  • The topic of reading comprehension was related to financial literacy in worldwide.
  • There were 4-5 questions of Antonyms and Synonyms with the passage.
  • Although it may seem that the error detection questions were totally from a new pattern.

Quantitative Aptitude (Moderate - Difficult)

  • For the first and second shifts, the pattern of Quantitative Aptitude questions asked was quite similar.
  • In third shift there were questions of Quadratic Equation in Quant Section instead of Number Series.
  • The level of quantitative aptitude section was Moderate.
  • If you are yet to appear for IBPS exam, the first and most basic tip to help you clear quantitative aptitude section's cut off is that you should work on your calculation speed.
  • Data interpretation and discount topics were tough while questions from time and work, age problems, profit and loss, compound interest and average topics were of moderate level.
