IBPS PO cut off is applied in 2 stages- a) scores in individual section, b) on total scores. The cut off in each objective test is represented in the following table:
|Name of the Test||Maximum Marks||Cut Off|
|English Language||30 Marks||4.50||7.00|
|Reasoning Ability||35 Marks||5.50||8.50|
|Quantitative Aptitude||35 Marks||5.25||8.25|
This year, a change in cut off is observed as compared to previous year. Overall cut off is calculated on the total scores.
Total Scores (100 Marks) = Reasoning Ability (35 Marks) + Quantitative Aptitude (35 Marks) + English Language (30 Marks)

Scores secured in IBPS PO Prelims will not be added in final IBPS PO selection process. But a great score is always an energy booster in mains exam. Change in cut off is observed due to increase in number of candidates, pattern of exam and level of questions. It is always difficult to select a right candidate from a huge crowd. Thus, IBPS introduced Prelims and Mains in the written examination.
Scores more than 70 marks: candidates who have secured marks more than the set cut off are in a good position. They have better chances to clear IBPS PO Mains Exam. Marks secured in each section defines the performance of the candidate. If in any section, the performance is not good then practice is the only key to score better.
Scores ranging in 45-60: Number of vacancies is always less than the number of aspirants. The candidates who have secured IBPS PO Prelims cut off in the defined range then they are in a somewhat dangerous situation. Focus on each section of the mains exam and mostly the weakest subject. Read. Practice. Repeat.
Scores below the cut off: No need to worry if the cut off marks are not cleared. Better luck next time. This score card gives you the result of your performance in the exam. If you just left with a mark or 2 then you’re on the right track. Just be focused and practice hard with dedication for IBPS PO.
