UPSC (Union Public Service Commission) recently released the admit card for UPSC CDS 2. The candidates can download the same by visiting the official website. UPSC CDS 2 Exam is going to be held on October 23, 2016.

The commission conducted Combined Defense Services exam 1 (CDS 1) IN May and the results for the same were declared on February 14, 2016.

Combined Defence Services is the doorway to the most sought after Officer Cadre jobs at Indian Armed Forces. Post Selection, Candidates are required to go through training at Indian Military Academy, Dehradun; Indian Naval Academy, Ezhimala, Kerala; Air Force Academy, Hyderabad; Officers Training Academy, Chennai; Officers Training Academy, Chennai, 19th SSC Women (Non-technical) course commencing in April 2017.

Steps to Download UPSC CDS 2 Admit Card

Admit card is important in a sense as it serves as proof of identity and to download the same you can follow the below stated steps:

1. First, Candidate is required to visit the official website (upsc.gov.in.) of Union Public Service Commission

2. Then on the homepage, check the 'what's new' section

3. Next, candidate is required to click at the link 'E-Admit Card-CDS Examination 2 2016'

4. A new page will be open and then the aspirant will need to click on the download section

5. Read the given instructions carefully

6. Take a print out of the instructions for the future reference of the candidate

7. Click on YES and a new page will be open on the screen

8. Candidate is required to submit the necessary details like roll number, date of birth etc.

9. The admit card of the candidate will be displayed on the screen.

10. Take a print out of the admit card for the entry purpose in the examination hall.

Please Note: The candidate needs to bring this E-admit card in each session of the examination to secure admission to examination hall. Also, E-Admit card is important to be preserved till the declaration of written result as its production before Service Selection Boards is necessary.

The aspirants who do not have clear photographs on the E-admit card on the scanable attendance lists will be required to bring a photo identity proof viz. Adhar Card, driving license, passport, Voter ID card etc. Also, aspirants are suggested to carry three passport size photographs one for each session for appearing in UPSC CDS examination with an undertaking. 

UPSC CDS 2016 Exam Pattern

The CDS Exam Paper consists of three subjects- Quantitative Aptitude, English Language and General Awareness. Candidates who are applying for Officers Training Academy will only sit for the English and GK papers. The time allotted for each section would be for 2 hours. The maximum marks allotted to the written exam and interview will be equal to each course i.e. the maximum marks allotted to the written examination and to the interviews will be 300, 300, 300 and 200 each for admission to the Indian Military Academy, Indian Naval Academy, Air Force Academy and Officers’ Training Academy respectively.

All the questions in the papers will be objective only. The question paper will be in Hindi and English both. In the question papers, wherever necessary, questions involving the metric system of Weights and Measures only will be set. Candidates must also note that you cannot use calculators for answering the objective-type questions.

It becomes important to know the exam pattern as gives a clear idea about which sections to prepare for and how strategically attempt them. CDS Exam 2016 would be conducted on offline mode only. There are total 3 papers in CDS namely English (100 marks), General Knowledge (100 marks) and Elementary Mathematics (100 marks). The total duration of the exam is 6 hours (2 hours for each paper).  Mentioned below is the detailed information on CDS Exam Pattern. Candidate can refer the pattern while preparing for CDS.
