The final CDS Cutoff will be based on the marks of last recommended candidate’s marks in the written exam and interview.  Based on the marks obtained in the written examination and SSB interview, UPSC prepares a merit list of candidates for admission to the Indian Military Academy (IMA), Indian Naval Academy (INA), Air Force Academy (IFA) and Officers’ Training Academy (OTA).

Factors affecting CDS 2 2017 Cutoff

There are various factors that affect the Cutoff. The qualifying marks of the last candidate may be depended on these factors. We have listed some of these factors that affect the cutoff marks-

  • Difficulty Level of Exam: This is the most important factor that affects the cutoff. This year the exam was moderate on the level of difficulty, so the expected cutoff is almost same as it was in previous years.
  • No. of Seats Available: This factor is important, but it barely happens.  The no of seats, mostly remain unchanged. And whenever it changes it affects cutoff marks for both written and final.
  • No. of Candidates appearing for the examination: This number also affects the cutoff marks every year. The no. of appearing candidates keeps changing through the years, so it always affects the cutoff marks. The more the candidates appear, the cutoff marks are surely going to be high.
  • Previous Year’s Cutoff: Previous year’s cutoff, although, doesn’t affect the cutoff of the current year, but it is a considerable factor. This helps understanding the current year’s expected cutoff.
