Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY) exam is conducted to examine the young talent, who are willing to pursue their career in Basic Science research. To secure a position in the merit list among the thousand of applicants, all the aspirants are requested to prepare themselves in a methodical manner. Subject Wise KVPY SA & SX/SB Preparation Strategy

The KVPY SX stream consists of the concept of Math, Physics, Biology and Chemistry till class 12. At first, the aspirants have to finish the class 11 and 12 syllabus thoroughly. All the KVPY SX candidates need to read from NCERT books and IIT JEE (NEET for Biology) study materials since there is no topic or unit based prescribed syllabus.

Physics

Physics syllabus is mostly based on logical thinking and hence, the aspirants should know the fundamental concepts thoroughly. First, make sure that your core concepts are clear, so that you can easily solve the “problem solving” questions.

Since, the Mathematics and Physics are closely related and goes hand in hand, hence, you need to know the process of applying the Mathematical formulas for solving the Physics problems. In addition, the candidates are asked to practice the conceptual questions as much as possible.

Chemistry

Chemistry is categorised into three subsections and these are Organic Chemistry, Physical Chemistry and Inorganic Chemistry. The candidates have to give equal importance to all of the subsections.

To prepare the Organic Chemistry section, continuous revision is the key pillar. Better the aspirants should make a note on the important chemical reactions, so that they can solve and practice the questions.

To get a good score in the Inorganic Chemistry section, the only way is to memorize lots of things. Try to practice this section, when you will be in free mind, your brain will be highly active. In turn, you can memorize the lessons easily and also at a quicker rate. For Inorganic Chemistry section, the aspirants have to follow the NCERT books thoroughly.

On the other hand, the more you solve the problems, the higher will be your chances to get a good score in the Physical Chemistry section. Again, practicing from the NCERT book will be the most suited option for preparing the Physical Chemistry Unit.

Mathematics

Practice over practice is the one and only mantra for making a good score from the Mathematics section. More specifically, try to solve Mathematical problems as much as you can to boost up your confidence level on the topic. All the important formulas should have been at the tip of your tongue. In addition, the candidates should remember the theorems. It will be wise to make a note on the important theorems, axioms and memorize the principles.

Learn in such a way that you can visualize the graphs, 3D vectors, shapes and curves. The candidates will also answer some IQ based questions, hence, prepare yourself accordingly.

Biology

To prepare Biology, the aspirants have to focus more on labelings and diagrams. According to the expert, the NCERT books are sufficient for KVPY Biology preparation. Hence, it will be better not to waste your time on any other reference books.

The aspirants should make a note on the important topics and must revise again and again. To make your learning easier, the aspirants can make the notes with flow charts. Consequently, the shortcut will be easier to learn important topics. In addition, the candidates have to practice MCQs more to obtain high marks in the Biology section.

  • Work on the Weak Points: It is important to work more on the weak areas, which sections you are facing more difficulty. However, do not take much stress upon yourself for preparing this section.
  • Do not pick new topics: Do not give much effort to finish new topics before the exam dates. In turn, it will affect your confidence level. Better revise continuously which you have already finished.
  • Attempt the KVPY mock tests and previous year papers: Practice a full length mock test everyday. It will help you to build a habit of finishing the questions within the limited time period. In addition, try to solve as much as possible the previous years question papers and sample question papers. Therefore, you can get an idea about the KVPY exam pattern 2021.
  • Use Flash Cards and Flow Charts for Revision: It is not possible to go through the entire syllabus during your last minute preparation. Hence, it is better to use flowcharts, notes or flashcards for revising the entire lesson. In addition, this process is helpful to memorize the learning in a better way.
