The UPSC Indian Economic Service (IES) and Indian Statistical Service (ISS) is an all India Exam that is conducted annually by the UPSC. The IES and ISS is the administrative inter-ministerial civil service under Group A of the Central Civil Services of the executive branch of the Government of India. The online application for ISS/IES 2021 will begin from April 7, 2021 and the exam is scheduled for July 16-18, 2021.

UPSC IES/ISS Eligibility Criteria

All the Indian candidates who satisfy the below-mentioned criteria can apply for UPSC IES/ISS exam:

  • Age Limit: For unreserved candidates, the Minimum is 21 Years and the Maximum age is 30 Years. There is age relaxation for reserved category candidates.
  • Educational Qualification:
    • Candidates should possess a Post Graduate Degree in Economics OR Applied Economics OR Business Economics OR Econometrics for the IES exam.
    • Candidates should possess a Bachelor's Degree with Statistics/Mathematical Statistics/Applied Statistics or a Master's degree in Statistics/Mathematical Statistics/Applied Statistics for the ISS exam.

UPSC IES/ISS Registration and Application

Before you start the application process, make sure you have a valid and active email id and contact no. UPSC IES ISS 2021 Exam comprises two stages: Part-I Registration and Part-II Login.

Part-I Registration

  1. Click on the official link, https://www.upsconline.nic.in.
  2. Click on the Apply link given on the page. A registration link will open up in the new window.
  3. Click on New Registration in the application window.
  4. Provide personal credentials like name, parents’ name, date of birth, email id, mobile number etc.
  5. Click on the submit button to the completed online registration form of SBI PO.
  6. After the Registration, a Registration ID and a password will be sent to your mobile no. and email id.

Part-II Login

  1. Login with the provided Registration ID, date of birth and password to complete registration for UPSC IES ISS 2021.
  2. Upload the photograph and signature.
  3. The candidates will then be required to verify the details. Preview and verify the application form carefully.
  4. Lastly, pay the required application fee online.
  5. Take out a print out of the application form for future use.

  • For offline payment or pay by cash, visit any nearest SBI Branch during the banking hour before the closing time.

UPSC IES/ISS 2021 Admit Card

Candidates must go through the following steps to download the admit card of UPSC IES/ISS 2020.

  • Visit official website upsconline.gov.in
  • Click on "e-admit cards for various examinations of UPSC"
  • Click on the link ‘UPSC IES admit card 2020’
  • Enter your credentials - registration ID and date of birth or roll number and date of birth or candidate's name or father’s name and date of birth.
  • Choose any of the mediums to download and click on ‘submit’.
  • Candidates will be able to see the admit card/hall ticket on the screen. Download it and take a printout of the hall ticket of UPSC IES/ISS 2020.

UPSC IES/ISS Exam Pattern

The examination is conducted in two parts – Part-I and Part II. Part 1 is a written examination and part 2 is Viva Voce or interview. Here is the exam pattern of the written test:

  • Statistics I & II will be of Objective Type Questions (80 questions with maximum marks of 200 in each paper) to be attempted in 120 minutes.
  • Statistics III and IV will be of Descriptive Type having Short Answer/ Small Problems Questions (50%) and Long Answer and Comprehension problem questions (50%).
  • At least one Short Answer and One Long Answer Question from each section is compulsory.
  • In Statistics-IV, an equal number of questions i.e. 50% weightage from all the sub-sections below and candidates have to choose any two subsections and answer.
  • The papers on General English and General Studies will be of subjective type.
