Delhi Subordinate Service Selection Board is a Recruitment board under the Government of the National Capital Territory of Delhi. Its objective is to recruit suitable candidates for the Group “B” and Group “C” categories of posts, both Technical and Non-technical. The Board comprises the Chairman, Members, Controller of Exams, Secretary, Deputy Secretaries of various departments, and the subordinate staff.

The DSSSB recruits the various employees of Group “B” and Group “C”. These employees include the following: -
- Junior Engineers (Civil and Mechanical),
- Post Graduate Teachers (PGTs) for the various subjects,
- Trained Graduate Teachers (TGTs) for the various subjects,
- Patwari,
- Legal Assistant,
- Special Educator,
- Assistant Teachers (Primary and Nursery),
- Physical Edn. Teacher,
- Drawing Teacher and Music Teacher,
- Domestic Science Teacher,
- Educational and Vocational Guidance Counselor (EVGC).

DSSSB Salary (Basic Pay) Structure
The two major classifications of the recruitments done by the DSSSB are as follows: -
- Group “B”: The posts with the grade pay of Rs.5400, Rs.4800, Rs.4600 and Rs.4200 in the pay scale of Rs 9,300 – 34,800 in the Pay Band-2. The salary range for these posts is Rs.35,000 - Rs.55,000.
- Group “C”: The posts with the grade pay of Rs.2800, Rs.2400, Rs.2000, Rs.1900 and Rs.1800 in the pay scale of Rs.5,200-20,200 in the Pay Band-1. The salary range for these posts is Rs.20,000 - Rs.40,000.

DSSSB Allowances
DSSSB Allowances
The various set of allowances that a DSSSB employee is entitled to are: -
- Residential Quarters or HRA (which is 24% of the basic pay). It depends upon whether the employee takes up the quarters provided or arranges his/her own accommodation.
- Dearness Allowance (DA), which is 9% of the basic pay.
- Transport Allowance (TA), which is fixed at Rs.3,600 per month, for both the groups.
- Dearness Allowance (DA) on the Travel Allowance (TA), which is 9% on the TA.
The Gross Monthly Pay, hence, comes out to be as follows:
- 51,006 for a primary teacher,
- 63,641 for the TGT, and
- 67,232 for the PGT.
However, the deductions due to NPS, Income tax reduce this Gross Pay amount slightly.
- Maternity Leave, of atleast 6 months to Women.
- Medical Allowances, to assist in the medical expenses of the employee.

The prospects of Promotion are always very lucrative for DSSSB employees, based on their work experience and performance. Here are a few of them: -
- A PRT can become a TGT very soon.
- A TGT can end up becoming a PGT very soon.
- A Junior Engineer (JE) can end up becoming an Assistant Engineer.
- Regular increase in the pay of the other stationary positions like the Music Teacher, the Drawing Teacher, the Patwari and others.

Ques. What is the minimum eligibility criteria to join DSSSB?
- PGT applicant must be a postgraduate or Masters’ degree holder, from any recognised university. Having a degree/diploma in education is also an accepted minimum eligibility criteria.
- TGT must have qualified TET from the CBSE, after completing the Bachelor’s degree or diploma or equivalent or should have an SAV certificate.
- Assistant Engineer and Junior Engineer posts require a Degree or Diploma in the relevant discipline. A diploma-holder must have a minimum of 2 years’ experience.
- Group B applicants must have passed 12th, followed by graduation; along with the relevant experience.
- Music Teachers must have passed B.A. with music as a subject or cleared the eligibility music exam after 12th standard.
Ques. What is the maximum age limit for applying for DSSSB?
- PGT posts have 36 years as the maximum age,
- TGT and Music Teacher posts have 32 years as the age limit,
- Primary Teachers have a 30-years’ age limit,
- AE, JE and the remaining Group B and Group C posts have the maximum age limit varying from 27 to 32 years of age.
- These age criteria are relaxed for SC/ST by 5 years, OBC by 3 years, and Physically Handicapped by 10 years.
Ques. What is the Application fees for DSSSB?
Ans. The fees are Rs.100 for General and OBC category males, while it is free for the remaining categories and all females.
